shameless self-promotion

You win some, you lose some.
Soundtrack van deze post: Basia Bulat * Oh, My Darling
*I don't know why I used 'indie' as an adjective here, but then as I mentioned elsewhere, there are moves to keep changing the meaning of that word until it either doesn't mean anything or it means all things to all people! // Stuart Murdoch

Animal Collective - My Girls
Is it much to admit I need
A solid soul and the blood I bleed
With a little girl, and by my spouse
I only want a proper house
I don't care for fancy things
Or to take part in a precious race
And children cry for the one who has
A real big heart and a father's grace
I don't mean to seem like I care about material things like a social status
I just want four walls and adobe slabs for my girls

we want our film to be beautiful, not realistic
1- reading sentences like "Dikke Dehaene is niet onaantastbaar" in a classmate's summary. Made me laugh out loud! Exam humour!
2-looking at a digital clock when it's 11:11 or 22:22. Happens all the time (maybe I just look at the clock too often). It makes the little autist in me quite happy.
3-the fact that I'm going to write reviews for Indiestyle. Free gigs for the win!
4-Akron/Family and their cute little jams like 'Ed is a Portal'. Check it out for yourself at YouTube (my YouTube is broke, for some strange, unexplainable reason).
5-random Zooey Deschanel pictures.

noisepop, baby!

Not in a writing mood, so I'll just copy/paste their bio:
"Imagine if the Ramones traded in their leather jackets for anoraks, or Stephen Pastel actually threw Aggi off the bridge and married Black Tambourine’s Pam Berry and had four babies that formed a pop band.
Meet The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, a New York four-piece who plays dreamy, noisy POP with boy/girl vocals, blissful melodies and blistering drums."
Best twee punk noise pop from the new wave of twee punk noise pop bands (Vivian Girls, The Mae Shi, Women, Abe Vigoda, ...). Brilliant band name too. Oh, and great video for 'Everything with You'. What is there not to like?!
Debut album should be out next month, so be sure to grab it!
Soundtrack to this post: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart's debut album ('cause it leaked, ofcourse)

"I can't put into words the beauty of this song. I can try though.
You know when you're alone and nostalgic and just a little high, and you're sitting in your own little corner of the world and no one else exists, or at least in your mind they don't, and this song comes on and it's so beautiful that a tiny tear rolls down your cheek and you don't even notice it, and for that one second that tear and that song are the only thing in this world that are beautiful, and then all of a sudden you're bawling and screaming and punching walls because you just can't hold it in any longer and you're yelling everything bad that's ever happened to you to the air because there's no one there to listen for you, so you just pretend, and you really wish you had someone to hold you and tell you that everything will be alright and you're just having a rough time, but there's no one, so you hold yourself and sit with your legs crossed just holding yourself and thinking, and crying silent tears, because you don't want anything to hear you crying and walk over and see if you're okay, because just for this 5 minutes you need to be not okay, and you need to let your thoughts and anger and everything spill across the floor, and then the song ends and everything is okay.
I think if you did that you would hear this song."

Because everyone feels like this sometimes. This was written about 'Two Headed Boy, Pt.2' by Neutral Milk Hotel, but because I can't find a decent video on YouTube, here's 'Holland, 1945' by the same band:
